Chinese New Year Post (again)

What? It's Chinese New Year already? Wow.
I can't believe that I actually (and finally) write another post again after almost a year! That's somewhat a proof of what a lazy/irresponsible/unmotivated blogger I am...
Anyway, let's not focus on the negative part since it's CHINESE NEW YEAR! Yeah, finally it's that time of the year again. Time when the relatives you haven't met since last Chinese New Year show up, time to hear the loud chit-chats between adults, time to experience that awkward moments between the cousins you barely know, and of course TIME FOR THE RED ENVELOPE! Everybody loves receiving that red envelopes. I mean, who hates receiving money? Although you have to bear the awkward moments caused by those relatives you met only on that day of the year. But it's totally fine since you have those red envelopes to cherish you.

Many of you must have those relatives you hardly know, but you should act like you care on Chinese New Year so that your parents won't scold you. And I know how awkward and torturing that is. Pretending to enjoy the moments while you only want to lock yourself up in the bedroom. Why are parents so thoughtless? Why do they even think that I can mingle with them just fine when I can count how many times I met them with my fingers? Maybe those are your thoughts. As terrifying as it could be, you should also see the positive side. The reason why your parents forced you to "face" your relatives is just because blood is thicker than water. Yeah, I know it sounds cliché, but it's true. Getting to know your relatives better can give you advantages in the future. Who knows someday you'll need their help? Or maybe they can give you connections to your dream job? Just believe that what your parents told you to do is for your own good.

You need to remember that Chinese New Year is not about the red envelopes. It's always about the family. So, you shouldn't be selfish. At least you should greet your relatives and treat them well since you've received the money. Do you get it now? Embrace that awkwardness and spread the Chinese New Year spirit! Happy Chinese New Year everybody!
